To “get to heaven”
To 'get to heaven' as you say is dependent on two things --
faith in the Manifestation of God in His Day, in other words in this Age in
Bahá'u'lláh; and good deeds, in other words living to the best of our ability a
noble life and doing unto others as we would be done by. But we must always
remember that our existence and everything we have or ever will have is
dependent upon the Mercy of God and His Bounty, and therefore He can accept
into His heaven, which is really nearness to Him, even the lowliest if He
pleases. We always have the hope of receiving His Mercy if we reach out for it.

The appearances of the Divine light of truth
A star has the same radiance if it shines from the East or
from the West. Be free from prejudice, so will you love the Sun of Truth from
whatsoever point in the horizon it may arise! You will realize that if the
Divine light of truth shone in Jesus Christ it also shone in Moses and in
Buddha. The earnest seeker will arrive at this truth....

Consultation: “one of the most potent instruments conducive to the tranquillity and felicity of the people”
The question of consultation is of the utmost importance,
and is one of the most potent instruments conducive to the tranquillity and
felicity of the people. For example, when a believer is uncertain about his
affairs, or when he seeketh to pursue a project or trade, the friends should
gather together and devise a solution for him. He, in his turn, should act
accordingly. Likewise in larger issues, when a problem ariseth, or a difficulty
occurreth, the wise should gather, consult, and devise a solution. They should
then rely upon the one true God, and surrender to His Providence, in whatever
way it may be revealed, for divine confirmations will undoubtedly assist.
Consultation, therefore, is one of the explicit ordinances of the Lord of
mankind.

Subjects that Baha’i children should receive education
A basic and vital requirement of these days is the matter of
educating the boys and girls. One of the duties devolving upon the members of
Spiritual Assemblies is that, with the support of the friends, they should
exert all their powers to establish schools for the instruction of boys and
girls in the things of the spirit, the fundamentals of teaching the Faith,
reading the Sacred Writings, learning the history of the Faith, the secular
branches of knowledge, the various arts and skills, and the different languages
-- so that Bahá'í methods of instruction will become so widely known that
children from every level of society will seek to acquire divine teachings as
well as secular knowledge in Bahá'í schools, and thereby means for the
promotion of the Cause of God will be provided.

Opposition to the Faith
...a large multitude of people will arise against you,
showing oppression, expressing contumely and derision, shunning your society, and
heaping upon you ridicule. However, the Heavenly Father will illumine you to
such an extent that, like unto the rays of the sun, you shall scatter the dark
clouds of superstition, shine gloriously in the midst of Heaven and illumine
the face of the earth. You must make firm the feet at the time when these
trials transpire, and demonstrate forbearance and patience. You must withstand
them with the utmost love and kindness; consider their oppression and
persecution as the caprice of children, and do not give any importance to
whatever they do. For at the end the illumination of the Kingdom will overwhelm
the darkness of the world and the exaltation and grandeur of your station will
become apparent and manifest...

The “adornments of the human reality”
…the exaltation of man resides primarily in such virtues and
attainments as are the adornments of the human reality. These consist in divine
blessings, heavenly bounties, heartfelt emotions, the love and knowledge of
God, the education of the people, the perceptions of the mind, and the
discoveries of science. They consist in justice and equity, truthfulness and
benevolence, inner courage and innate humanity, safeguarding the rights of
others and preserving the sanctity of covenants and agreements. They consist in
rectitude of conduct under all circumstances, love of truth under all
conditions, self-abnegation for the good of all people, kindness and compassion
for all nations, obedience to the teachings of God, service to the heavenly
Kingdom, guidance for all mankind, and education for all races and nations.
This is the felicity of the human world! This is the exaltation of man in the
contingent realm! This is eternal life and heavenly honour!

To “embody and personify the teachings of Bahá'u'lláh”
…in this cycle of Bahá'u'lláh verbal confessions and
acknowledgements, literal faith and certainty and external relations are of no
avail. Nay, rather, the beloved of God and the maid-servants of the Merciful
must manifest such attributes and ethical conduct as to embody and personify
the teachings of Bahá'u'lláh. They must promulgate the law of the Kingdom with
deeds and not words. Thus may they become the quintessence of being, the signs
of the Kingdom of God, standards of the Supreme Concourse.

Divorce
They must strictly refrain from divorce unless something
ariseth which compelleth them to separate because of their aversion for each
other, in that case with the knowledge of the Spiritual Assembly they may
decide to separate. They must then be patient and wait one complete year. If
during this year, harmony is not re-established between them, then their
divorce may be realized. It should not happen that upon the occurrence of a
slight friction or displeasure between husband and wife, the husband would
think of union with some other woman, or, God forbid, the wife also think of
another husband. This is contrary to the standard of heavenly value and true
chastity. The friends of God must so live and conduct themselves, and evince
such excellence of and conduct, as to make others astonished. The love between
husband and wife should not be purely physical, nay, rather it must be
spiritual and heavenly. These two souls should be considered as one soul. How
difficult it would be to divide a single soul! Nay, great would be the
difficulty!
In short, the foundation of the Kingdom of God is based upon
harmony and love, oneness, relationship and union, not upon differences,
especially between husband and wife. If one of these two becomes the cause of
divorce, that one will unquestionably fall into great difficulties, will become
the victim of formidable calamities and experience deep remorse.

The “true relationship between the Revelation of Bahá'u'lláh and that of the Báb”
And finally stands this, His [‘Abdu’l-Baha’s] illuminating
explanation, setting forth conclusively the true relationship between the
Revelation of Bahá'u'lláh and that of the Báb: "The Revelation of the Báb
may be likened to the sun, its station corresponding to the first sign of the
Zodiac -- the sign Aries -- which the sun enters at the vernal equinox. The
station of Bahá'u'lláh's Revelation, on the other hand, is represented by the
sign Leo, the sun's mid-summer and highest station. By this is meant that this
holy Dispensation is illumined with the light of the Sun of Truth shining from
its most exalted station, and in the plenitude of its resplendency, its heat
and glory."

Future Manifestations of God
"Concerning the Manifestations that will come down in
the future 'in the shadows of the clouds,' know verily," is His
[‘Abdu’l-Baha’s] significant statement, "that in so far as their relation
to the source of their inspiration is concerned they are under the shadow of
the Ancient Beauty. In their relation, however, to the age in which they appear,
each and every one of them 'doeth whatsoever He willeth.'"

Baha’u’llah’s Revelation
… 'Abdu'l-Bahá's own tribute to the transcendent character
of the Revelation identified with His Father: "Centuries, nay ages, must
pass away, ere the Day-Star of Truth shineth again in its mid-summer splendor,
or appeareth once more in the radiance of its vernal glory." "The
mere contemplation of the Dispensation inaugurated by the Blessed Beauty,"
He furthermore affirms, "would have sufficed to overwhelm the saints of
bygone ages -- saints who longed to partake for one moment of its great
glory."

“Bahá'u'lláh's inscrutable purpose” and “the conduct of 'Abdu'l-Bahá”
Bahá'u'lláh's inscrutable purpose, we must ever bear in
mind, has been so thoroughly infused into the conduct of 'Abdu'l-Bahá, and
their motives have been so closely wedded together, that the mere attempt to
dissociate the teachings of the former from any system which the ideal Exemplar
of those same teachings has established would amount to a repudiation of one of
the most sacred and basic truths of the Faith.

“art is worship“
…in this wonderful new age, art is worship. The more thou
strivest to perfect it, the closer wilt thou come to God. What bestowal could
be greater than this, that one’s art should be even as the act of worshipping
the Lord? That is to say, when thy fingers grasp the paintbrush, it is as if
thou wert at prayer in the Temple.

The Valley of Love
The Valley of Love… In this city the heaven of rapture is
upraised, and the world-illuming sun of yearning shineth, and the fire of love

harvest of reason.

Paradise
As to Paradise: It is a reality and there can be no doubt
about it, and now in this world it is realized through love of Me and My
good-pleasure. Whosoever attaineth unto it God will aid him in this world
below, and after death He will enable him to gain admittance into Paradise
whose vastness is as that of heaven and earth. Therein the Maids of glory and
holiness will wait upon him in the daytime and in the night season, while the
day-star of the unfading beauty of his Lord will at all times shed its radiance
upon him and he will shine so brightly that no one shall bear to gaze at him.
Such is the dispensation of Providence, yet the people are shut out by a
grievous veil.

Worlds of God
As to thy question concerning the worlds of God. Know thou
of a truth that the worlds of God are countless in their number, and infinite
in their range. None can reckon or comprehend them except God, the All-Knowing,
the All-Wise. Consider thy state when asleep. Verily, I say, this phenomenon is
the most mysterious of the signs of God amongst men, were they to ponder it in
their hearts. Behold how the thing which thou hast seen in thy dream is, after
a considerable lapse of time, fully realized. Had the world in which thou didst
find thyself in thy dream been identical with the world in which thou livest,
it would have been necessary for the event occurring in that dream to have
transpired in this world at the very moment of its occurrence. Were it so, you
yourself would have borne witness unto it. This being not the case, however, it
must necessarily follow that the world in which thou livest is different and
apart from that which thou hast experienced in thy dream. This latter world
hath neither beginning nor end. It would be true if thou wert to contend that
this same world is, as decreed by the All-Glorious and Almighty God, within thy
proper self and is wrapped up within thee. It would equally be true to maintain
that thy spirit, having transcended the limitations of sleep and having
stripped itself of all earthly attachment, hath, by the act of God, been made
to traverse a realm which lieth hidden in the innermost reality of this world.

Love of God
O Friends! You must all be so ablaze in this day with the
fire of the love of God that the heat thereof may be manifest in all your

Attaining the station to receive the confirmations of the Holy Spirit
…man must become evanescent in God. Must forget his own
selfish conditions that he may thus arise to the station of sacrifice. It
should be to such a degree that if he sleeps, it should not be for pleasure,
but to rest the body in order to do better, to speak better, to explain more
beautifully, to serve the servants of God and to prove the truths. When he
remains awake, he should seek to be attentive, serve the Cause of God and
sacrifice his own stations for those of God. When he attains to this station,
the confirmations of the Holy Spirit will surely reach him, and man with this
power can withstand all who inhabit the earth.

“the nucleus… the very pattern of the New World Order destined to embrace in the fullness of time the whole of mankind”
The Administrative Order, which ever since 'Abdu'l-Bahá's
ascension has evolved and is taking shape under our very eyes in no fewer than
forty countries of the world, may be considered as the framework of the Will
itself, the inviolable stronghold wherein this new-born child is being nurtured
and developed. This Administrative Order, as it expands and consolidates
itself, will no doubt manifest the potentialities and reveal the full
implications of this momentous Document -- this most remarkable expression of
the Will of One of the most remarkable Figures of the Dispensation of
Bahá'u'lláh. It will, as its component parts, its organic institutions, begin
to function with efficiency and vigor, assert its claim and demonstrate its
capacity to be regarded not only as the nucleus but the very pattern of the New
World Order destined to embrace in the fullness of time the whole of mankind.

Some Biblical and Islamic references to the Revelation of the Báb
The “cleansing of the Sanctuary,” prophesied by Daniel and
confirmed by Jesus Christ in His reference to “the abomination of desolation,”
had been accomplished. The “day whose length shall be a thousand years,”
foretold by the Apostle of God in His Book, had terminated. The “forty and two
months,” during which the “Holy City,” as predicted by St. John the Divine,
would be trodden under foot, had elapsed. The “time of the end” had been
ushered in, and the first of the “two Witnesses” into Whom, “after three days
and a half the Spirit of Life from God” would enter, had arisen and had “ascended
up to heaven in a cloud.” The “remaining twenty and five letters to be made
manifest,” according to Islamic tradition, out of the “twenty and seven
letters” of which Knowledge has been declared to consist, had been revealed.
The “Man Child,” mentioned in the Book of Revelation, destined to “rule all
nations with a rod of iron,” had released, through His coming, the creative
energies which, reinforced by the effusions of a swiftly succeeding and
infinitely mightier Revelation, were to instill into the entire human race the
capacity to achieve its organic unification, attain maturity and thereby reach
the final stage in its age-long evolution.

Some scriptural references to the Báb and His Revelation
He the “Qá’im” (He Who ariseth) promised to the Shí’ahs, the
“Mihdí” (One Who is guided) awaited by the Sunnís, the “Return of John the
Baptist” expected by the Christians, the “Ushídar-Máh” referred to in the
Zoroastrian scriptures, the “Return of Elijah” anticipated by the Jews, Whose
Revelation was to show forth “the signs and tokens of all the Prophets”, Who
was to “manifest the perfection of Moses, the radiance of Jesus and the
patience of Job” had appeared, proclaimed His Cause, been mercilessly persecuted
and died gloriously. The “Second Woe,” spoken of in the Apocalypse of St. John
the Divine, had, at long last, appeared, and the first of the two “Messengers,”
Whose appearance had been prophesied in the Qur’án, had been sent down. The
first “Trumpet-Blast”, destined to smite the earth with extermination,
announced in the latter Book, had finally been sounded. “The Inevitable,” “The
Catastrophe,” “The Resurrection,” “The Earthquake of the Last Hour,” foretold
by that same Book, had all come to pass. The “clear tokens” had been “sent
down,” and the “Spirit” had “breathed,” and the “souls” had “waked up,” and the
“heaven” had been “cleft,” and the “angels” had “ranged in order,” and the
“stars” had been “blotted out,” and the “earth” had “cast forth her burden,”
and “Paradise” had been “brought near,” and “hell” had been “made to blaze,”
and the “Book” had been “set,” and the “Bridge” had been “laid out,” and the
“Balance” had been “set up,” and the “mountains scattered in dust.”

Some of the Titles of the Báb
He, [the Báb] as affirmed by Himself, “the Primal Point from
which have been generated all created things,” “one of the sustaining pillars
of the Primal Word of God,” the “Mystic Fane,” the “Great Announcement,” the
“Flame of that supernal Light that glowed upon Sinai,” the “Remembrance of God”
concerning Whom “a separate Covenant hath been established with each and every
Prophet” had, through His advent, at once fulfilled the promise of all ages and
ushered in the consummation of all Revelations.

“Mullá Husayn, the first Letter of the Living”
Mullá Ḥusayn, the first Letter of the Living, surnamed the
Bábu’l-Báb (the Gate of the Gate); designated as the “Primal Mirror;” on whom
eulogies, prayers and visiting Tablets of a number equivalent to thrice the
volume of the Qur’án had been lavished by the pen of the Báb; referred to in
these eulogies as “beloved of My Heart;” the dust of whose grave, that same Pen
had declared, was so potent as to cheer the sorrowful and heal the sick; whom
“the creatures, raised in the beginning and in the end” of the Bábí
Dispensation, envy, and will continue to envy till the “Day of Judgment;” whom
the Kitáb-i-Íqán acclaimed as the one but for whom “God would not have been
established upon the seat of His mercy, nor ascended the throne of eternal
glory;” to whom Siyyid Kázim had paid such tribute that his disciples suspected
that the recipient of such praise might well be the promised One Himself—such a
one had likewise, in the prime of his manhood, died a martyr’s death at
Tabarsí.

To “act in accordance with His sacred instructions and counsels”
O army of God! Through the protection and help vouchsafed by
the Blessed Beauty -- may my life be a sacrifice to His loved ones -- ye must
conduct yourselves in such a manner that ye may stand out distinguished and
brilliant as the sun among other souls. Should any one of you enter a city, he
should become a centre of attraction by reason of his sincerity, his
faithfulness and love, his honesty and fidelity, his truthfulness and
loving-kindness towards all the peoples of the world, so that the people of
that city may cry out and say: 'This man is unquestionably a Bahá'í, for his
manners, his behaviour, his conduct, his morals, his nature, and disposition
reflect the attributes of the Bahá'ís.' Not until ye attain this station can ye
be said to have been faithful to the Covenant and Testament of God. For He
hath, through irrefutable Texts, entered into a binding Covenant with us all,
requiring us to act in accordance with His sacred instructions and counsels.

The “spirit that animateth this age”
…the spirit that animateth this age is the power of the
Covenant and Testament of God. It is like a throbbing artery in the body of the
world. Ye should always mention this important theme at every one of your
meetings and conferences, and ye should exhort everyone to remain firm and
steadfast in the Covenant. Know ye that if a person should evince the least
sign of hesitation in the Covenant, his downfall would be imminent, even if he
were reckoned among the most distinguished individuals, for in the end the
harmful consequences of Covenant-breaking will become apparent. Therefore ye
must exercise the utmost care concerning this matter...I shall fervently pray

Meaning of “man must entirely forget himself”
As to the fact that man must entirely forget himself, by

changed into weakness and debility.

Stations of the Báb and Baha’u’llah
Praise be unto God Who hath manifested the Point, hath
unfolded therefrom the knowledge of all things, whether of the past or of the
future—a Point He hath chosen to be the Herald of His Name and the Harbinger of
His Great Revelation which hath caused the limbs of all mankind to quake and
the splendour of His light to shine forth above the horizon of the world.
Verily, this is the Point which God hath ordained to be an ocean of light for
the sincere among His servants and a flame of fire to the froward amidst His
creatures and the impious among His people—they who bartered away the gift of
God for unbelief, and the celestial food for hypocrisy, and led their
associates to a wretched abode. These are the people who have manifested
sedition throughout the world and have violated His Covenant on the Day when
the immortal Being mounted His throne and the Crier raised His Voice from the
haven of security and peace in the holy Vale.

Evolution – “man was always man”
We cannot prove man was always man for this is a fundamental
doctrine, but it is based on the assertion that nothing can exceed its own
potentialities, that everything, a stone, a tree, an animal and a human being
existed in plan, potentially, from the very “beginning” of creation. We don’t
believe man has always had the form of man, but rather that from the outset he
was going to evolve into the human form and species and not be a haphazard
branch of the ape family.
